Veteran Owned. Locally Operated. Brownwood Founded.

MANTIQUES & MERCANTILE WAS FORMED FROM A DREAM OF PROVIDING SOMETHING COMPLETELY UNIQUE TO BROWN COUNTY AND BEYOND. WE SAW AN OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE A SPACE THAT WAS MEANT NOT ONLY TO PROVIDE GOODS DRIVEN TOWARDS MEN, BUT ALSO A PLACE TO MEET AND CONNECT. THUS, THE MERCANTILE WAS BORN.

In the very beginning, Matt’s was formed with a love of all things vintage. We started with humble beginnings: learning as we went, spending hours sourcing, and discovering our style.

Specializing in the revitalization and restoration of pieces like old metal signage, and one-of-a-kind vintage gas pumps, we saw what others could not in these pieces: potential. While the hunt for something old and unique was thrilling, we began to see the need for other options in Brown County for men, thus, the Mercantile side of our dream was born in 2022.

Now we offer a perfect variety of old and new, so you don’t have to settle for another boring gift again! With the move to our new building in 2022 on Brown Street, we truly began to see our vision come to life. We invite you to come share in our vision with us. We’ve got friendly conversation and a fresh cup of coffee waiting for you!

HIStoric downtown brownwood, TX

Our beginnings were humble at our original location - 201 E Adams St is where our dream began. We knew, more than anything, that we wanted to be in historic downtown Brownwood - this was our way in.

While our first year taught us so much about business and Brownwood, more importantly, it taught us that we dreamed of doing even more. With the help of many friends and colleagues we made the move to our 301 Brown St. location with the most gorgeous renovated historic building, dating back to 1912, and officially putting us in the heart of downtown. Months of hard work and visionary came to life in this building, and Matt’s Mantiques became Matt’s Mantiques & Mercantile.

You have to see it to appreciate the beautiful work and restoration, including an historic bank vault, restored original hardwood, and original walls.

Come see us at 301 Brown Street, Wednesday/Thursday 11-5, and Friday/Saturday 10-6!
